Arrival/Assistants
We will eat breakfast at 8:30. You may pack your child breakfast from home or pay for a school breakfast. The cost for breakfast is $1.25.
Our assistant is Mrs. Anderson
Behavior
Students are expected to follow school-wide/classroom behavior standards. A detailed explanation will be sent home and we will review the behavior plan at Open House. Students will have clips that move up and down during the day based on behavior. The final block they end up on will be in their communication/homework folder. All students start on ready to learn each day. Appropriate behavior will be at the Ready to Learn level or higher.
Communication
A homework folder will be sent home each day. Please check for notes, etc. Also, please initial in the appropriate box each day. Please feel free to send in notes, email at [email protected], or call.
Dismissal
Our buses dismiss around 2:20 each day. For students who are parent pick up we will escort your child to the pick up lines, if student has siblings in the school we will dismiss at the same time as sibling.
If it is necessary for you to check your child out early, please go to the front office and they will call our room.
Grading
Your student will receive grades as a percent and letter grade. Work will be sent home about once a week. You will receive IEP goals and an interim or report card about every 4 weeks.
Homework
I believe homework is important because it is a valuable tool in helping students make the most of their experience in school. Homework helps reinforce what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility and helps students develop positive study habits. However, I do not believe in punishing students over homework or overloading them with it either. Like I stated earlier, life happens and I know we can all be busy during the week. This is why homework will be a part of our classroom economy. It is a job of the students and so it will be treated as such. They will earn classroom money for completed homework.
Lunch (and Breakfast) Our lunch time is 11:00 to 11:30
Lunch is $1.75 per day. Breakfast and lunch can be prepaid online, or with cash or check at the school. Prepayment is strongly encouraged so that your child does not have to carry money.
If you do need to send in money for your child's account, please send all money in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child’s name written on it.
Forgotten lunches or money can be dropped off in the office.
Monthly News and Announcements
Our classroom news and announcements will be available online. Go to the Class Sites tab on OVE’s Website, and then click on "Website" under my name.
Parties
Students will get to pick something to cook in class on their birthday. If you would like to send in something additional for a birthday celebration, please notify me.
Reading at Home
Please have your child read to you daily. We go to the library every Thursday (most weeks). Your child may check out two books each week. One book will be an Accelerated Reader (AR) book on their level and the other is a free choice book. They will take an AR test each week.
Work
Your child will be participating in many fun activities throughout the year! We will be singing, moving, painting, cutting, drawing, writing, listening, sharing, reading, counting, and discovering new concepts! Please realize that some of our activities will be MESSY! We will have your child wear a paint shirt or smock, but sometimes accidents still happen!
-Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep!
Thank you for all you do!
